Another Year Behind Us

Time may move slower in the dark dimension, but that doesn’t change the fact that yet another year has come and gone. We’ve shared laughter, tears, heartache, and triumph over these grueling twelve months: between quarantine keeping us apart for club activities and sporting events, our favorite Advanced Magick professor retiring, and still no news regarding the disappearance of our beloved former headmaster Zohar, it has probably felt like a lifetime. Melusine–the vice president of this very club–recently said that she felt as if March 2020 was an eternity ago. While Haunters may scoff at such sentiment, I’m certain that I speak for every Hunter and Enchanter reading this when I say that that statement rings true for us. We, who have never been burdened with eternal life or afterlife, will never come as close to experiencing the agony that is to exist without end as we did this past year.

So, as the academic year draws to a close, I would like to remind students that the final day to turn in assignments without an extension is this coming Sunday, the twenty-first. If your guardian applied for an extension on your behalf, then you have until March 7th to turn in your assignments. Guidelines for extensions were emailed to every student, so please check your inbox and spam folder if this is your first time hearing about it. Notify your homeroom professor if you haven’t received it, as the deadline to apply for an extension is Saturday the twentieth. We will reflect the countdown displayed at the bottom of each page with the extension end date once the current deadline has been met.

I would like to take this moment to thank my club members for sticking with me through this rough patch. Virgil, thank you for giving us an alternative to your photographs. Aspen, thank you for being my assistant editor and spellchecker–as well as for introducing me to the best coffee in Montreal. Feliks, I hate that you never got the chance to flex your blogging skills for our sports section, but I’m happy to see that you’re using the internet more, and I can’t wait to read your upcoming blogs! Arion–my sweet, rambunctious Arion–thank you for keeping us entertained with your articles, and for always adhering to the truth. You four rock. ๐Ÿ’›

Mel, thanks for keeping me sane; for staying up with me to binge watch shows on Flixio, and checking on me, and always making time for me. You’re the best friend a dryad could ask for. Thank you for simply being you. ๐Ÿงก

Thank you, Professor Penn, for reaching out and encouraging us in your spare time. See you next month. ๐Ÿ’™

Finally, a special thanks to you, readers and followers of The Arcane Citizen. We might have picked a poor year to get it off the ground, but that just means we’ll have an even better second year. I have been informed that Arion has a couple rumors to discuss, Aspen has some news to share, and even Feliks will post a blog before the new academic year begins. There will be plenty of articles to look forward to, so follow our blog and keep an eye on your notifications!

Have a lovely weekend, Citizens.
